Blame It on the Delivery Guy

If you have a problem and next extra support or help for an item you have ordered, you tell them when you buy the item? Right? Of course you do, a lot of people do this when they buy a large item, they inform the store of the problem (bad back, elderly parent signing, 300 flights of stairs) and if they are lucky, the shop makes note of this on the order form.

If they are lucky.

When your delivery van arrives, a guy starts to unload and you need help, you told them in the shop you needed help but the thing is – help costs money.

You are left blaming the delivery guys for something they have no control over.

Deliveries are an expensive undertaking for many stores and warehouses, their biggest expenditure is staff, then the cost of transportation. In tougher times, staff cut backs are made and so are transportation cutbacks. Sometimes, the additional help request is passed on, more often it is not – it’s an extra cost and hey- they can blame it on the delivery man.

It’s not the stores fault, the warehouses fault, it’s the delivery guys fault.

I was trying to explain this on Facebook the other day, that as delivery people, we deliver what we are told and if we are asked for a two man team, then we provide that – that’s what will help your elderly parent get the goods in, or you with the bad back, or every person that lives at the top of 300 flights of stairs.

Often what we are asked to do is deliver for a fixed price, regardless of the circumstances (square pegs and round holes?) and they rarely include a second person on delivery. Partly this is the consumers fault, they are used to ‘cheap’ delivery but are not happy with what cheap delivery entails.

An excellent courier does it’s best job when they educate everyone in the chain.

We also have the health and safety aspect, it was pointed out to me that delivery a pallet of goods would have been quicker for the delivery company if they had a two man team, well again, it comes down to money.

The company booking the job doesn’t want to pay the going rate, they want a delivery deal and that means something has to be cut, it has to be staff or fuel.

If two people did the delivery that’s two days wages and double the delivery cost normally charged. It is cheaper for our customer to have one driver unload with their equipment, it may take a little longer but that is one set of wages less to pay. So the delivery company will give the shop/warehouse several prices –

  • Two man team, dedicated delivery
  • Two man team, no fixed time
  • Delivery on a dedicated vehicle
  • Delivery on a specific schedule, a working driver

Guess which one is the cheapest? Did you say the last one?

Given the choice of the 4 options, and the store knowing you have disabilities / no parking / no one home until lunch, they always go for the cheapest.

This can leave you in a bit of a predicament. Do you drop everything and run home to help an aged parent get something over the doorstep? Do you call a neighbor to help? Often you find out about the inconvenience at the last moment, leaving you angry at the store and angry at the delivery company.

Constellations of Signification: The Crossword Compiler’s Art

You have to crawl before you walk, as the old saying goes. Europe provides an amazing array of travel possibilities. Yet the idea of maneuvering through countries where unfamiliar languages are spoken sometimes raises a mental barrier for folks pondering a first-time visit. A London vacation is a wonderful way to get your feet wet on the other side of the Atlantic.

London is a complex city of 8 million people and 600 square miles. And not everyone speaks English. We recommend condensing a first-time visit to the center of the city. It’s packed with numerous sights of which almost everyone has heard. The areas containing the sights are called Westminster, West End, The City and the South Bank.

The close proximity of many world-famous attractions lends itself to a self-guided walking tour. A popular starting point is on Westminster Bridge, which crosses the Thames River. The Thames runs through London, pretty much east to west, with most of the sights on the north bank. Immediately visible from the Bridge is legendary Big Ben, the clock tower on the north of the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben was originally part of the Palace of Westminster, which burned to the ground in 1834. The Houses of Parliament contain both ruling bodies, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Across from the Houses of Parliament and bordering Parliament Square sits Westminster Abbey, a church and venue for royal coronations, funerals, burials and weddings since 1066. A block north in the middle of Whitehall is the Cenotaph, a monument to those who perished in World Wars I and II, devastating events that had a profound effect on modern-day Britain. Farther along the same block sits another world-famous structure, #10 Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives and works. His chancellor for finance lives conveniently next door at #11.

From #10 Downing Street, a walk of several blocks leads you to the renowned Buckingham Palace, home to the monarchy since 1762. The Queen has opened her home to the public but only in August and September, when she’s away. The Palace’s Changing of the Guard is a major tourist attraction. It happens daily at 11:30 from May through August, and every other day for the rest of the year.

If #10 Downing Street is Britain’s White House, then Trafalgar Square is its Times Square. The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, in which Britain turned back Napoleon Bonaparte’s French Army. The Square’s centerpiece is a statue of Admiral Horatio Nelson, the one-eyed and one-armed man who led Britain in the battle. Trafalgar Square is a few blocks north along St. James’s Park from #10 Downing.

Two all-star attractions are located across from Trafalgar Square’s northern border. The National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of European paintings in the world, with more than 2,000 of them. To the right of the Gallery is the steeple of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, built in 1722. It’s one of the world’s most famous non-cathedral churches in the world.

Though a little seedy these days, Piccadilly  geekowear. Circus is another sight known throughout the world. “Piccadilly” comes from fancy ruffled shirts called “picadils” made in the neighborhood years ago. “Circus” comes from the Latin word meaning circle.

Online Marketing Words

The importance of words in our online marketing cannot be overstated. At all levels of our internet marketing business we rely on words to get the facts and the details across. As we rarely meet our customers face to face we need to ensure that our use of marketing language really ‘tells the tale’ with accuracy and honesty.

In our choice of domain names we need to select a name that makes it clear to internet users just what our business is all about. Sometimes it is possible to incorporate our company name, our own name or our product niche. Whenever possible that is obviously ideal.

We use words on our webpages, in our emails, in our web-ads and in our off-line promotions. When it comes to producing sales letters many marketers prefer to outsource the responsibility to experienced copywriters whose very existence is built upon use of words. Even if you use outsourcing, it is worth while attempting to learn the art of writing sales letters, etc. so that you can eventually take over that task yourself.

There is an old apocryphal saying in the UK (especially in England) that the top public schools teach their students never to use two short words where six long ones will do. That simply would never do in our line of business. Internet marketing words need to be succinct, even pithy, in order to get across our meaning as easily and completely as possible. Hyperbole, sadly, is so often encountered in sales material; “this is the best opportunity on the internet today”, or “earn £30,000 by next Tuesday working 3 minutes a day”. Internet users have become hardened to that approach and treat such claims with fully justified suspicion. You will keep a list full of happy customers if you tell them the truth and meet their expectations. In internet marketing it is said that we under-promise and over-deliver rather than the other way around.

Whether you write your own copy or outsource it, do ensure that the quality of the grammar is of the highest possible standard. The dubious grammar and poor spelling encountered all too often on the internet is a source of real irritation to many readers. If you antagonise people they are hardly likely to become customers. Use your Spellchecker! There is no need to use long words or flowery language, indeed, it’s better if you don’t, especially in a sales letter. Try to use emotive words to catch the imagination of the reader. Remember, – we are usually selling to what people want rather than what they need. Incorporate anecdotes and moments of humour to encourage your reader to keep reading. Initial contact letters and emails should be short and to the point, encouraging the reader to visit a particular website. Once they are genuinely looking for more information and are in a positive frame of mind, then, and only then, do you tell the whole story with a much more detailed and meaty presentation.

Words should be your friend in any form of marketing. However, if you don’t use them well they can all too easily become your enemy. If you can do your own copywriting, that’s great, it’s something that every internet marketer should aspire to. If you really don’t trust your writing skills then outsource the work and get an expert to do it for you; – the cost is not great and the improved sales will soon pay off your outlay.

Knowing the Words and/or Singing With Passion in Your Online Business

We have all heard it. You think you know the song. It sounds like the song you know when the person starts to sing it. Yes, you do know it. You close your eyes and remember a very special time or person who was with you when you heard the song. It became very special in that very moment. The same is true in your online business. Knowing what to do is just as important as performing your activities with passion and heart.

But wait a minute you say. You understand what to do right? You have been making the big money and now are looking for more ways to spend it than there is sand on the beach. You have it nailed down. You can tell someone exactly what to do, how to do it and how to teach others to make the big money you know your sponsored associates want to earn to.

You have been to the seminar, last month, last week, last year. You took great notes and you texted and Tweeted and Facebooked all the peeps at home. They saw where and what you were eating what you were wearing and all the pictures that were taken by the big banner signs for the company, near the stage. In the workshops, you learned that when things go well, you should let those know it did in a nice meaningful way. If it didn’t go so well, still point out what did go well and move on. You vowed that this is your time, this is the year you will find yourself on that stage. What could possibly hold you back? You know the words as they would say. You know what to do to make your online business shoot to the top. You are your own boss. You are the CEO. You loved that last workshop. It has helped you the most.

The words continue to bring you closer to that fine memory of how the song is supposed to be sung. You can remember where you were. You remember your favorite place to hear that song and to sing along. All your senses remind you. What has made such a great impression on you? You know this song so well you even know all the verses. It was written so many years ago, you don’t even know, but you do know that when you hear the introduction and the first verse ends, you know how each following verse starts and ends. It doesn’t even matter that you can or cannot sing. You sing anyway!

What was that again? Those aren’t the words. I know those aren’t the words, your brain suddenly forces you back to reality. What did she sing? Your brain wasn’t in this verse. Your brain was in the other verse. How could she cheat you out of the rest of the verse you were in and take you to somewhere that is uncomfortable and not at all the memory you know? All eyes are on her. She hasn’t missed a beat, but no one has retained their memories. Her passion is shining through, she has some style and appears to not know, or at least not let you know, that she does not know the words to our National Anthem. How can you not know the words if you know that millions will be watching? How can you not know what to do in your online business if you know one person is watching?

The truth is, you need to not only know the words, you need to know how to share them with passion. It doesn’t matter if you are whispering, speaking or, singing. It doesn’t matter how many people are listening or how many memories are lost. It doesn’t matter if it is the National Anthem, your business presentation or your online business presence. It should always be your best. You will want to be remembered for your best, not for what mistake you made or which verse you forgot. The passion will shine through in your confidence and in the way others perceive your footsteps. Your bank account will reflect how you followed the band, how you focused on your best performance yet, how your online business proves to others that not only does it work. It will work for them too.

Healthy Habit: Did you eat too much this past weekend? Start Monday, not thinking you will lose 10 pounds by week’s end, but in moderation and eating what your body needs, not all that you think will satisfy you. Moderation will make you happier and when you have lost that pound at the end of the week, you’ll be smiling!

How to Get Everyone Talking About YOUR Online Business, MLM Or Network Marketing Business

GET TO KNOW YOUR customers and the market in you’re network marketing business. Keep informed about what’s going on in your industry. The online business community is forever changing, always keep your eye out for the latest wave in technology or marketing technique that could put you in front of the rest. This is ‘content’ information. Learn about criteria and values words in your online business industry. Then you’ll have a place to start with your advertising.

This technique is a great way to get everyone talking about what you have to offer. And a valuable lesson you will use in your marketing many times over. I know I will and this is one of the key components that has turned me from struggling MLM’er to a confident online Network Marketer and finally seeing my goals become a reality.

SINCE WORDS are what we attach to meaning, they are valuable. So do your home work or, here’s one for you: CREATE NEW WORDS!! That’s right, be the first on your block to have the WOW the new XYZ!!! get them talking!

IS IT DIFFICULT? No, people do it every day. As a matter of fact, people make lots of money just coming up with new words for companies all the time. How do you think companies come up with
brand names for new products? Their is a clip from Eben Pagen that will help you get really creative with this. You can find it on my blog at the bottom of the page.

I REMEMBER my dad telling me about when he first tried rum, it was in the ’80’s from seeing a billboards around that had a great picture of a pirate and the words ‘Captain Morgan is Coming’. Dad said he and mum wondered, ‘Who is Captain Morgan? Is it a new musical group, a new radio personality?’ Well, after a few months, they learned that ‘Captain Morgan’ was not a person, or persons, but the name of a rum!

THEY LAUGHED AND THOUGHT that was really cool because they got so curious and kept that curiosity. Dad said “we, ourselves, are not particularly rum drinkers, but after a few more months, we just had to buy a bottle and try it out!! We were still curious!!!” The state remained constant even though the reference, for my parents, had changed from person to thing!

SO, YOU HAVE A unique product or service? Think about it. Now think about what it does FOR THE CUSTOMER!! What’s the Benefit? What’s the Value? Now, as you think about it, fully associate into it and say the first thing that comes to your mind once fully associated. Write it down. This is your new BUZZ WORD

NOW YOU GET YOUR NEW “buzz word”, but here’s the special part about buzzwordinging, it’s best done in 3 steps:
Step 1: Buzzword with someone who is familiar with your product or service, maybe they work with you, for example.
Step 2: Do not buzzword more than 3 times and write all the possibilities down.
Step 3: Test with people OUTSIDE your company to find out what it does for them. They should be, at least, familiar with your company and/or industry, they could be a customer who you can trust to give you honest feedback. You could try this with your face book group or any other forum or online group you may be part of that shares the same business interests with. It’s a bit like starting a rumour have some fun with it BUT…

DO NOT explain the product or service first. Just give them the word(s) and ask them if it interests them to know more. If yes, then explain the product or service by sending them to your website and ask them if it matches your new word(s) make sure they know their feed back is the most important thing. If not, not to worry, it’s the attention getting thing that counts most!! If the word(s) do not get them to want to know more, use the other first and second ones. If you do get a lot of curiosity it could pay to hang it out a little and get people talking and building more curiosity.

THE REASON TO SAVE the first couple and not to go beyond 3 tries at buzzwordinging to me is, having been involved video marketing, the first recording session take is almost always
the best. This is because of the emotional state that people are in ‘at first’. After that, if they decide to take other takes, they go for that ‘perfection’ thing, and often times get frustrated, and then end up with a less effective performance lacking feeling and emotion because it has been taken over with control.

Important Things to Consider When Buying Gold Jewelry Online

There are many things to consider before you buy gold jewelry online. With so many options available, it can be hard to find a reliable seller. Identity theft is becoming a major problem today. Follow these guidelines if you want to avoid this

Make a background check

When you buy gold jewelry online, check the website carefully. Review all the details. It is also advisable to ask for proper documentation and a license. Make sure they are registered to avoid future problems. Read testimonials and customer feedback regarding their services. Check the ratings. If there are complaints, try to keep in touch with those customers to know more about their experience. Look for other options if you’re not comfortable making transactions with the online seller.

Ask for referrals

You can start by asking your friends or relatives who usually buy gold jewelry online. Word of mouth is the most reliable source. Ask them about their experience. It is also better to ask a professional. Look for people who are fond of collecting jewelry items. These people may recommend the best jewelry shops online and the right items to buy.

Consider the price

You should also consider the prices. Look for your desired items and see if other online shops are offering them. Compare the prices and shipping terms. You can also check the market price to determine the true value of the items. The shipping fee, however, may also affect the price. Check the location of the supplier. If you are ordering across time zones, expect a higher shipping charge. Some areas are also particular with other items. For example, when you buy earrings online from other countries, it may be more expensive. Apart from the shipping fee, the stones and materials used from another country may have significant value.

Shipping policy

Another thing is the shipping policy. Each store may have different policies. Read the terms and conditions carefully. Ask them when you can get your item upon payment. They should also provide you the best courier service to make sure you can get it on time.

Wide selection

You should go for companies offering a wide selection. If you are going to buy earrings online, they should have the best and “hottest” products. This will determine how good the company is. Browse on the images. This will also help you find the items you’re looking for.

Other things to consider

When you buy online, make sure you are getting your money’s worth. These are expensive materials and not everyone can afford them. You can’t just keep them inside a box. Wear them on special occasions so you can enjoy your purchase.

Condo Living – Why It’s the Best for Everyone

Condos are set up similar to apartments, so there will often be a shared wall or shared floor if they are set up above or below one another. However, this is a small price to pay for the amenities that come along with new condos for sale.

Anyone who lives in a condo will say they absolutely love it, while some will say they wish they’d bought a house instead. It’s best to explore the pros and cons of condos before making a decision, there are many reasons to choose new condos for sale.

No yard to mow! For anyone who doesn’t love yard work this is a huge bonus. Forget mowing because the dues paid monthly covers this work, and the yard will always look amazing! Many first-time home owners are unaware that there is so much work to landscaping and yard care. Not to mention snow plowing, roof repairs, siding, cleaning gutters and so much more.

Further, many people don’t even use the giant yards that come with their house. It’s definitely something to consider. Just beware that many new condos for sale don’t have the funds to make necessary improvements as time goes by.

These are important questions to ask. A well-run association will ensure that they always hold their value, and are a better investment overall. If many members fall behind on dues it affects so many things, especially if it’s a small arrangement of condos rather than one that has hundreds.

It’s cheaper than buying a house. There’s no denying that the cost of a condo in comparison to a house is often cheaper. Of course it depends on the size and other features, but regardless it’s smart to keep in mind the property values of the area and the value of the condo or home, even into the future. New condos for sale are often worth more simply because they are new, and offer new technology and finishes.

Many people that have lived in both a condo and a house report that when living in a condo the mortgage was cheaper, so the overall expenses were more manageable. Keep in mind the cost for the new condo for sale won’t be the only expense. There will be association dues as well. Usually the more amenities the higher the dues. For example, 24-hour security, gym, swimming pool and more all cost money to maintain to dues covers that cost.

For anyone going back and forth between the two options, it’s best to consider how much they have to invest, and not just in the purchase price. If they lead a busy lifestyle they’d do well to seriously consider a new condo for sale. It will be low maintenance and less stress overall. Plus, they’ll have plenty to do depending on the amenities.

If location is important, one can often get a new condo for sale in prime areas such as the beach, right in the city or near popular attractions. It can feel like being on vacation all the time!

Plastic Shutters Vs Vinyl Shutters – What’s the Difference?

Many people who wish to replace their outdoor shutters take a careful look at the shutters on their home and quickly learn they are made of plastic. The next step is to either go down to their local home improvement store or to use the Internet to search for “plastic shutters”. What many homeowners find is that the selection of plastic shutters is very limited, but there are other materials available including vinyl shutters, composite shutters, wood shutters, and fiberglass shutters. Some people at this point wonder “if the shutters I have now are plastic, why are there no plastic shutters available anymore?”

The truth be told, vinyl shutters are made from a type of plastic. So why are they called vinyl shutters and not plastic shutters? To understand the answer to this question, you will need to know a little history of the vinyl siding industry.

In the late 1950’s when plastics were in their infancy in the marketplace they were far from perfect. Plastic injection molded products were almost instantly considered an inferior product compared to metals, woods, or other construction materials. When plastics were first introduced as home building materials (namely exterior siding) a new marketing ploy had to be invented to fend off weary buyers of plastic products. So, the term “vinyl siding” was created to market the new product to homeowners and builders. This is not to say they were lying about what it was, they were just being more specific. After all, vinyl is a type of plastic.

Many of these same manufacturers soon realized there was also a market for plastic shutters. Naturally the term “vinyl shutters” was used to market these products, and to this day most vinyl shutters are manufactured by vinyl siding companies.

The technology behind plastic injection molding has come a long way since the 1950s. It is now almost inconceivable to buy a product without some type of plastic injection molding incorporated into it. In fact, plastic shutters will last longer and won’t require as much maintenance as wood shutters. As such, most people would probably not be afraid to buy “plastic shutters” today.

So why is it that we still call them vinyl shutters? Well, it is not that easy to change an entire industry. Plastic shutters may perhaps be called vinyl shutters indefinitely, even though the polymers that they are made of may not technically be considered “vinyl”.

While there are many materials available for exterior shutters, plastic has proven itself to be a long-lasting, low-maintenance, and low-cost material.

Freight Shipping and Warehouse Storage Made Easy With Plastic Pallets

Anyone who has walked into a warehouse store or home improvement store has seen pallets underneath large, bulky displays. They provide protection from the sales floor and make it easier to move cumbersome product. Pallets also safeguard product throughout the shipping process, enabling less damage and loss. With pallets being used more than ever in order to meet the demands of growing freight, what is the most reliable, eco-friendly, cost-efficient option out there?

Pallets made from plastic have gained popularity as a more adaptive, green, cost-effective choice. Plastic pallets are easy to maintain, durable over time, and come in a wide assortment of sizes and configurations. They cut down cargo space and can be stored without difficulty. And, because many are made from recycled plastic, they are sustainable and able to be completely recycled again.

Today, cost effectiveness is a prerequisite when considering a product. Plastic pallets are economical from their initial purchase, but also have a long service life span that offers sturdy shipping and packaging protection over time. Similarly, because they are lightweight and have an excellent weight-to-load capacity ratio, freight costs are reduced. Maintenance is less costly, due to plastic’s nature as a chemical and bacteria-resistant material.

Plastic pallets are safer than pallets made from other materials, such as wood. Aside from the splinters, cracks, and sharp edges of the wood, these pallets require metal hardware that can rust and corrode over time. Once weathered and worn, the metal will become unsafe after of repeated use. On the other hand, pallets made of plastic are generally fabricated in one piece and do not need any additional hardware. They are safer to handle and do not weather like wood and metal.

In addition, plastic can be cleaned and sanitized easily, unlike wood, which has a propensity to retain bacteria and other bio-hazardous contaminants. The handling of contaminated pallets can be risky on its own, but is especially dangerous when shipping food items and medical supplies. These health hazards are undeniably minimized since plastics are intrinsically resistant to insects, fungi, and bacteria.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, plastic pallets can be molded to fit a variety of needs. While all plastic pallets are designed to withstand the stresses of freight and shipment, there are a many different styles to handle various types of cargo. Space-saving storage, one-way shipping, floor rising, stackable, and nestable plastic pallets are all manufactured with precise conditions and requirements in mind.
